THIS SITE
As the website footer indicates, this website is powered by the Astro framework. Currently I do not have anything particularly fancy going on beyond the default blog template so this content is all generated by Astro and is not yet being served from an NGINX server via a NGINX reverse proxy. I appreciate the mindfulness of the way Astro compartmentalizes and organizes their code and how intuitive the process of probing it was. The BaseHead component, BlogPost layout and global styling creates consistent boilerplate code to quickly produce a functional and cohesive website through its powerful directory and page routing.
Astro also has many user generated templates to search through for one that may be more appropriate for your use-case if you’re looking for something a bit different from a simple yet powerful blog. Astro also maintains quite a few robust integrations to further customize your development experience to better fit your needs.
THIS GUY
As the website header indicates, this guy is powered by passion. Currently I do not have anything particularly fancy going on beyond a permanent part-time position which consumes a great deal of energy. When I’m not working or when I have extended periods of downtime I like to optimize unique Dungeons and Dragons character themes, cook incredible food for the people I care about or am taking a much needed breath of fresh air in my garden.
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada and have seen first hand the power that diversity has in providing strength and resilience. I’ve spent a great deal of time playing video games and would definitely call them a pivotal aspect of my life. Like many my age I was introduced young through the myriad of early generation consoles and handhelds like the SNES, Dreamcast, N64, Playstations and Gameboys. Playing Pokemon by the intermittent flashing of passing street lights on a long drive home is definitely a 90’s core memory for many of my peers. I also personally was heavily influenced by edutainment games, especially those that would come as cereal prizes.
I’ve always been actively engaged with technology, taking apart and putting things back together, modding games, fixing broken computers and appliances, so it only made sense to start honing those skills professionally. After a pretty significant health setback in 2023, I spent all of 2024 in full-time workshops developing my skills primarily in Programming, Web Development, IT Support and Administration, Networking and Cybersecurity. While I have not had any post-secondary education, I hold several certificates that speak to my dedication and aptitude in the field of IT. My career goal is to operate my own software development company. I’d like to action many of the great ideas that I’ve stored away in my noggin’ to provide tangible benefit to the people and communities around me.
